More Teacher Appreciation Gifts

May 12, 2008

One of the gift “themes” was flowers.  I decided that Mrs. A didn’t really need 19 bouquets of flowers, so I stepped outside the box a bit and made flower PENS!  They turned out really cute and were so easy to make!

Another theme they had was School Supplies, so I just put together a simple basket of basic school supplies along with some more “fun” type supplies:

I included these adorable altered binder clips and marble magnets that I purchased from The Purple Pear on Etsy:

Teacher Appreciation Gifts – Day 1

May 5, 2008

So I needed a break from working on my new store and new designs, and Teacher Appreciation week proved to be a nice distraction!  A great creative outlet for me!  Monday was “sweet treat” day, and the kids were to bring something sweet for their teacher.  This is what I came up with (inspired by my dear friend, Trisha!):

Here is what the backs looked like:

These were so easy to make!  I just designed the template to fit a snack sized ziplock bag.  The awesome digital scrapbook papers are from one of my favorite designers – Shabby Princess.  All I had to do was design, print, fold, and attach the bag inside with sheer ribbon!  These would also make super cute party favor bags!

Altered Clothes Pins

These altered clothes pins are TOO CUTE!  I just love them!!  What a fun and pretty alternative to boring paper clips!  They are embellished with beautiful Amy Butler paper and sealed for protection.

Altered Clipboard

This was a fun project for me to do! I altered a mini clipboard to use when getting autographs at Disney World. We got so many compliments on this!

Going To Disney!

January 12, 2008

We surprised the boys with a trip to Disney World over the Christmas break! I wanted to do something creative to tell them about it, so I decided to make an altered board book that Jacob would open on Christmas day.

I designed all the pages on my computer – some of them I designed myself, and others were from Glenda Ketchum’s “The Most Wonderful Place On Earth – Mouse Scraps” digital scrapbooking kit. I used a blank board book from www.barebooks.com When I was done attaching the pages to the book, I applied a thin coat of mod podge to seal and protect.

The book was a hit, and the look of excitement on Jacob’s face as he read it was priceless!

Here are a few altered CD ornaments I made:

These were really easy and fun to make! I used mini CDs (3 inches) so I think they would make super cute gift tags, too! I created the design on my computer, printed, adhered to the CDs and then applied a thin layer of mod podge to seal, protect, and give it a glossy finish.

Here are pictures of other ornament designs I created:

Teacher Gift

January 12, 2008

This is an altered clip board that I made as part of the Christmas gift we gave to Jacob’s teacher:

Back side:

This was super easy to make! Materials I used were a regular sized clip board, Amy Butler papers, coordinating ribbon, spray adhesive, mod podge, and 3-D flower stickers. First I sanded both the front and back of the clipboard so the pages would stick better. I printed the teacher’s name onto one of the papers with my laser printer, then covered the clipboard in the Amy Butler papers and ribbon for accents. I applied a thin coat of mod podge to seal and protect and let dry. As a finishing touch, I embellished the clip with 3-D flower stickers and tied coordinating ribbon to it, and wah-la, all done! I think it turned out super cute, and Jacob’s teacher LOVED it!
